Graceful Giving 2018

October is Graceful Giving!

At PeopleSense, we believe in a couple guiding principles: fostering healthy relationships and giving back. They’re baked into the work we do all year long, but October gives us a chance to highlight these important priorities.

In October of 2018, I celebrated the birthday of my adopted dog Grace who turned 14! Even though the work we do at PeopleSense is focused on organizational dynamics, Grace has been an instrumental teacher when it comes to building healthy relationships both personally and professionally.

She continually offers lessons and reminders, raising my awareness and teaching me how to have the kinds of interactions and outcomes that are grounded in respect and trust. I suspect many of you have had those special animal teachers in your life, too.

Graceful Giving ‘party!’

In October 2018, in honor of Grace’s 14th birthday, I threw a party of sorts, and it was filled with giving. The grand prize was a free, all-day team-building workshop to a deserving non-profit. It was my way of saying thanks to Grace and giving back to those who selflessly serve others.

I wanted to shine a light on the non-profit community: they help so many and often forgo professional development opportunities due to budget considerations.

Because of the quality of applications that I received, there were TWO non-profits chosen for the team-building workshop! You can read more about both winners, Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country and The Sustainability Project, here!

One lucky winner received $50 for the non-profit of their choice!

Like to join in the celebration?

This was how it worked in 2018. Check back to see what Graceful Giving will look like in 2019.

If you’d like to be a part of the celebration, there are a few wonderful ways to do so:

  • Talk to your favorite non-profit to see if they’d like to apply for the free day of team training.
  • Donate to your favorite non-profit or offer some service to others
  • Leave a comment, picture, or video that recognizes an act of giving you’ve witnessed this month!

If you leave a comment on our blog post, you’ll be entered in a drawing for a $50 donation to the non-profit of your choice. Together we can make Graceful Giving a powerful way to give back and create healthy relationships in our world!

2018 Application for Graceful Leadership Team Training

What is Graceful Giving?

Graceful Giving is a month-long celebration culminating in the selection of a non-profit that will receive a full-day workshop devoted to team development. The application process is outlined below, including a description of the workshop content.

Workshop description

The full-day workshop is called “Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team.”  Based on the work of Patrick Lencioni’s international best-seller The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team® powered by Everything DiSC® helps teams apply The Five Behaviors™ model of Trust, Conflict, Commitment, Accountability, and Results to drive team effectiveness and productivity.

What does the program cover?

The program helps teams understand how, as a team, they score on the key components of The Five Behaviors model: trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results. Everyone on the team will also understand their own personality style and their team members’ styles, based on the DiSC® model: D: Dominance, I: Influence, S: Steadiness, and C: Conscientiousness, and how their style contributes to the team’s overall success.

How will you benefit?

The Five Behaviors Model is used to help team members learn to work together more efficiently and effectively and become a more cohesive team. A productive, high-functioning team:

  • Makes better, faster decisions
  • Taps into the skills and opinions of all members
  • Avoids wasting time and energy on politics, confusion, and destructive conflict
  • Avoids wasting time talking about the wrong issues and revisiting the same topics over and over again because of a lack of buy-in
  • Creates a competitive advantage
  • Is more fun to be a part of!

Who is this program designed for?

The program is designed exclusively for intact teams and work groups. Often these are executive leadership teams or teams that are working towards a common goal.
